Advancing age has been kind to me but it is inevitable that I am becoming less able to properly care for all of the trees in my collection, especially the larger ones. Rather than allowing decline to claim the larger bonsai, I am reluctantly offering a few of them for sale. Most of the trees which will be offered here have been in my care for many years, some from seedling or airlayer stage. There will be no regular schedule for putting these special bonsai up for sale. It will be done as my health, strength, and attitude dictate. If you are interested in these bonsai, check this page from time to time to see what may be available.
AMERICAN BEECH
This unique specimen
was collect by me many years ago. it had a great base but was too
tall. the height was reduced with the intent of turning up a branch
to create a new apex. I found that large beech branches do not bend.
The tree was then grown in the ground for a number of years with top
and root pruning. The limb intended to make the new apex VERY gradually
turned upward and, after more years passed, made a great apex without
my intervention.
This beech has only been exhibited twice.
It was given the ABS Award for Excellence at Winrter Silhouettes
in 2019. It was also exhibited in a recent US National Exhibition.
